For children: Sisterhood provides challah to religious school students each Sunday, funds scholarships to the camp at Olin Sang Ruby, and provides gifts to b’nai mitzvah students, confirmands, and Hebrew School graduates.
For families: Sisterhood sponsors programs to foster warmth and familiarity among congregants such as this year’s formation of chavurot (friendship groups), and the evening at Ravinia. Sisterhood also sponsors the Yom Kippur Break-the-Fast and the Second Seder. Our Caring Community offers a variety of services to families coping with illness, death, and other serious problems.
For women: Every year Sisterhood offers programs to enhance the lives of its members. Some are educational, some are spiritual, and some are just for fun (like a wine-tasting, movie night, mahjongg or spa event).
Special projects: In the past year our dues and fund-raising activities enabled Sisterhood to purchase chairs for the bima of the newly renovated Sanctuary. Sisterhood also sponsored the celebration surrounding the rededication of the sanctuary.
Sisterhood also operates Lakeside’s gift shop, and sells invitations for b’nai mitzvot. Check out our gift shop if you need to buy a gift or just want to treat yourself. All proceeds support activities of Lakeside Congregation.
