Celebrating Shabbat at Lakeside

We hold joyful Shabbat services with Rabbi Serotta and Cantor Davis on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Below are some of the ways we celebrate Shabbat:

Shabbat Services - Our Friday evening services begin at 8:00 pm, except for the following:

Family Services – These Friday services are held once a month year round and generally begin at 7:30 pm. Rabbi Serotta leads these services, which last approximately one hour and feature a “family friendly” arrangement of prayer, song and story. Music is provided by our Religious School music teacher, Adam Kahan. Family services are often preceded by a family dinner.

Friday Night Live Services – These services are held several times a year and usually begin at 7:30 pm. Friday Night Live services are a musical, spiritual Shabbat experience. This service is led by Rabbi Serotta and features the music of Adam Kahan and his Friday Night Live band, Kavanah.

Summer Services – Our summer Friday Shabbat services are held at 6:00 pm, June through August. About forty-five minutes long, these services are held outside in our front garden, weather permitting.

Others – Throughout the year we have many other featured Shabbat services such as Sisterhood Shabbat, Pet Blessing Shabbat and Founders’ Shabbat.

Saturday morning Services - Our Saturday morning services begin at 10:30 am.

The key word is celebrate – every week we celebrate on Shabbat!
For a schedule of our Shabbat services, please see our calendar of events.

Healing Services

A healing service is an opportunity for a community to gather and is made up of those who perceive a need for their own healing. It is for those who need care and those who give care. It is for anyone who feels the need for physical, spiritual or emotional healing.

A healing service is not like a Shabbat service. It is more personal, more meditative, more engaging of all our senses. A healing service is about gathering strength by ourselves and with our community. Its music is about spirit and positive feeling. Its contemplative prayers are food for the mind and body.

Please join us for healing services on the first Tuesday of each month.  They begin at 6:30 pm and last about an hour.
